ROUTE 66 Kick Up Your Heels 2,448 Mile Challenge

You asked for it and here it is WARHORSE Family!   A Challenge to keep you and your horses (or dogs) busy walking and trotting for over 2400 miles!   This virtual challenge begins in the heartland in Chicago at the Route 66 beginning sign and check off places as you go such as the Wall Mural of Route 66 in Ponticac, Illinois and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO all the way to sunny California covering all 2448 miles of historic and iconic Route 66!  Your WARHORSE Endurance Conditioning Challenges FB Group is there to cheer you on every mile! Get your kicks out on Route 66, virtually of course! We are tracing the iconic route of Route 66 in the USA.

Looking for a personal challenge for you & your horse to tackle together?  Join the Route 66 Kick Up Your Heels 2,448 Mile Challenge.  While WARHORSE Endurance is a business, not a charity, we do love to give!  For each entry into the Route 66 Kick Up Your Heels 2,448 Mile Challenge, we will donate $5.00 will be donated directly to the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud Reservation.
 
The Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud state their Mission here:
"The Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud is currently the only afterschool program serving our reservation.  Rather than one time events, we choose to focus our resources on providing consistency for our youth.  We are the only center based, mentoring focused youth program on our reservation.  We value our partnerships with excellent organizations such as Todd County School District, SDSU Extension Service, Sicangu CDC, Tiwahe Glu Kini Pi and Sinte Gleska University.  Without our amazing volunteers, staff, and partners, we couldn’t do what we do."
 

Tracking Miles
If you'd prefer to track your miles on paper in a journal, notebook or calendar you can.  Many choose to track in a fitness app such as the free to use app called Adidas Running.  You can use the RESULTS tab on this page to submit your results.  What we really want to see in the way of tracking is posting to our positive and encouraging facebook community here: WARHORSE Endurance Conditioning Challenges.
 

Completion Awards
Earn a beautiful commemorative medal to go along with your 2,448 miles.  We are creating a lovely medal to commemorate the miles you have journeyed  together with your horse.   No hour of time is wasted that is spent in the saddle!  Though for these hours spent riding, driving, hiking or running you will recieve as completion custom awards created exclusively for this event:

When you sign up for a WARHORSE Endurance Challenge, you can get much more than a medal, you have the option to become part of what we in our facebook page and of course all along the way you will also be part of the WARHORSE Family on Facebook as we get to know one another and encourage each other in our journey together.  We also often share the stories of our WARHORSE Endurance participants on our brand new The Warhorse Journal Podcast that can be found on Apple Podcasts, Podbean and iHeartRadio.  WARHORSE Endurace is more than a set of challenges, it is a group of people who understand that time with your horse is precious time and we are here to encourage one another along life's trail. 

**Price includes shipping to USA only, for countries other than the USA we have designed an embroidered patch that we will mail to countries outside of the USA.  The shipping of a medal internationally is cost prohibitive, though we can ship the sticker and embroidered patch at our expense, however, if you are outside of the US and wish to have the medal shipped to you we will do so at your expense, as long as you pay the shipping invoice. 
 

Your Challenge at Your Pace
You decide, ride a few miles every day or maybe divided the mileage into three days per week or a few short rides during the week followed by a few extra miles of adventure on the weekend.  You set your pace, the days, the miles and if you goals! You decide what is right for you and your horse to create those miles of memories with together.  WARHORSE Endurance is here to cheer you on and we LOVE to see your miles posted to our facebook group, it is the place to share your miles, memories, videos and photos of your journey.  We love to cheer you on.  It is a well monitored group free of advertising and you will see mainly miles and pics in our group!  Join us on Facebook! 

Ride your horse, drive your horse, walk with your horse or do the challenge completely walking or running on your own.  How you customize this Challenge is up to you. We hope you will check into our facebook group with photos, videos, mileage updates and screen shots of you miles, though you do not have to.  

The Challenge is 100% based on the honor system, you and you alone are in charge of tracking the miles you cover, though we do provide a Free Mileage Log in the facebook group that you can print and use.   Yes, we even have cyclists doing this challenge!  
 
We are here to cheer you on, provide an encouraging facebook group and provide a beautiful completion award to commemorate your journey to cover the mileage of the iconic Route 66.  And also for this Challenge, to band together for a great cause, the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud. This Challenge will stay open and you have as long to complete it as needed, there is no true end date, though I have to set one when I create the event, it can be extended for you.   We understand that life happens and we want you to be encouraged to keep going, even when life gives you a reason to pause on your goals, we want to see you pick back up and try again.  

Although this is categorized on this sign up page as a virtual race, the only winners are you & your horse spending time together gaining experience, fitness, friendship and miles.  This is a challenge, not a race.
