Description

In the memory of Reckless, is a legendary chestnut mare known for her remarkable contributions and bravery serving in the Marine Corp, going over difficult terrain where men could not carry heavy loads and machines could not go.  This year we are ceating a virtual endurance challenge based on her legacy could be a wonderful way to honor her memory and raise awareness about the important roles animals have played in military history.

Participants in our upcoming challenge have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the footsteps of this legendary war mare through two distinct divisions. In the traditional 100-mile category, entrants can traverse the distance in a manner of their choosing, whether by foot, horseback, or even driving a carriage.

**Important to remember these challenges are cummulative miles*** Do a mile at a time until they add up to 100.   There is no time limit and we work on the honor system.

For the first time ever, we introduce the Ruck and Ride division, a unique homage to Sergeant Reckless's unparalleled service during the Korean War. Inspired by her legendary 51 trips up the treacherous hillside to deliver vital supplies to her fellow soldiers, participants in this division commit to rucking alongside their equine partners for 51 miles, echoing Reckless's monumental efforts. Then, symbolizing the wounded she courageously carried back down the hillside, participants will ride an additional 49 miles, each stride a testament to the unwavering bond between soldier and steed. With the freedom to choose their division, participants honor Reckless's legacy while forging their own path of endurance and remembrance.  Completion award packets include a finishers medal, patch, dog tag and sticker.

At WARHORSE Endurance, it's more than just a Facebook group; it's a warm and welcoming community where friendships flourish and every participant is valued and supported.  Our virtual challenges operate on the honor system, where participants are encouraged to uplift and motivate one another throughout their journeys, sharing their miles, photos, videos and updates.  We are here to cheer one another on. WARHORSE Endurance Challenges operate on the honor system, encouraging a community of encouragement, trust and caring. There are deadlines or cut-off times; participants have the freedom to complete the challenge at their own pace, understanding that life's demands vary for each individual, our goal and main purpose it to encourage you on your journey, and sometimes life throws us a curve and goals can take longer than expected.  WE get that, we understand and we believe in the strength of our community to uplift and support one another in our personal fitness or equine journey.     Please feel free to check out our facebook group here: WARHORSE Endurance Conditioning Challenges and also, we have a podcast here: The Warhorse Journal Podcast
