Description
Treadfest 2020 is on! But it will be very different from the normal WORS-style race. The 'Rona has impacted everything, so I'm sure no surprise to most, that things are different this year. Canopy Tours in Lake Geneva will be hosting Treadfest this year, in conjunction with the Lake Geneva House of Music, just across HWY H from Canopy Tours. The start/ finish will be near HWY H, at the entry gate for Canopy Tours. Parking will be at House of Music and we'll have a parking attendant to direct people. The House of Music will have food, beverage, and even live acoustic performances, all outdoors! Feel free to hang out before or after your race, and enjoy the space to be able to socialize, and maintain distance. The Lake Geneva House of Music requests no outside beverage because they will be available on site, let's support our locals! Avant Cycle Cafe in downtown Lake Geneva is also a tremendous sponsor of Treadhead Cycling, be sure to stop by to grab a brew! They are also a full service bike shop that can help out with any last minute parts or service.
To comply with COVID-19 requirements, races will be run as a time-trial event. There will be a time frame, depending on your category, where you are allowed to cross the start line at any time within that period. This is to promote some friendly race battles, without the standard mass start. We don't want to limit who races when, but we do need to limit the size of the field, therefore no more than 10 racers may start together at a time. In addition, the events are simplified into Beginner, Intermediate and Expert races, each with their own distance. Races will be staggered with one event on the course at a time. We hope you can join us for a unique cycling experience that is similar to a time trial or as the French call it, the race of truth. Masks at the start will be rider preference. Masks will only be required at plate pick-up and awards pick-up. We will do awards at 11:30am for Beginner, 2:30 for Intermediate, and 5pm for Expert.
Pre-riding will be available for registrants on Saturday, Aug. 29th. Just park up the gravel road at the Canopy Lot and go into the lodge to get your trail pass. With proof of race registration you will receive 50% off the $10 daily pass. Also, consider a season pass purchase to support the trails. If you find your bike needs maintenance, a mobile repair shop will be on hand, Harm Cycles, many of you may have used his services racing at WORS events.
