WHY YOU SHOULD RUN

The fact is that 9 out of every 10 victims of sudden cardiac arrest die (http://www.sca-aware.org/about-sca). One way to easily reduce the number of sudden cardiac deaths each year is efficient and immediate bystander CPR and AED use. 100% of the proceeds from this race will go towards offering low-cost monthly CPR and AED education classes in the Madison area, as well as purchase and donate more AEDs to the University of Wisconsin. Can't make the run? Please consider a donation.

Cardiac on Campus and the Wisconsin Homecoming Committee are teaming up to present the 4th annual Red Tutu Trot. Cardiac on Campus is a UW-Madison student org, founded in 2016 after co-founder Brittany Derynda's 20-year-old brother passed away from sudden cardiac arrest following a half marathon. We founded the club in an effort to shed light on preventing sudden cardiac arrests, especially within the college community, where cardiac health is often overlooked. Since then, we've CPR certified over 500 people and placed 2 AEDs on campus.

The chip timed 5K race takes place on the beautiful UW Madison Campus. The race begins and ends on the Howard Temin Lakeshore Path which runs along lake Mendota. The route is flat and scenic, perfect for runners or walkers.
