OPD Law Enforcement Mental Health & Wellness Awareness Virtual 5K

Hello everyone -

While the OPD Law Enforcement Mental Health & Wellness Awareness 5K won’t be happening in real-time this year with the current global situation, participants are completing their 5K goals by running with us virtually! We know you’ve been training hard and working toward the goal of completing our run and we’re excited to offer you the chance to accomplish your race goals through this virtual race!

What does this mean for you?

The dates of this virtual run are September 25th - September 28th. This means that you can run your 5K literally anywhere in the globe, as long as it is between those two dates! We of course left our initial 5K map route up for those who live in Oshkosh and would like to run that route anyways, but if you're from out of the area, or would even prefer to run on a treadmill, its up to you at this point! Be sure to log your time at the end of your run so that we can still award our top runners with this years medals!

Here Are Your Options:

Virtual races happen all the time, and allow you to join the fun without the crowds. You simply run the distance on your own, and report your results - we’ll send you instructions.

You understand that the cancellation of this event was out of our control and that you do not wish to participate in the virtual race. We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you at an event in the future.

Description

History & Mission
A committee was formed in late 2018 within the Oshkosh Police Department, who's mission is to help combat the stigma associated with law enforcement officers and mental health. Our goals are to offer our officers, non-sworn staff and law enforcement families of the Oshkosh Police Department support, education, training and awareness in mental health and resiliency.

Community Support
By participating in this annual 5K fun run/walk, we offer members of our community a chance to help us fundraise for this important cause and help our officers/staff and family receive the help and tools they need. With these funds, the Oshkosh Police Department plans on using the proceeds for:

-Education/training on physical/mental/emotional health
-Law Enforcement resiliency training
-Speakers related to mental health & wellness
