Double out and back on 2 rail trails. The first section is about 5 miles long, is paved & goes through the historic & restored Meredith Tunnel. The second trail is on crushed limestone & has a scenic view of the Monongahela River. Long sleeve tech shirts if registered by Dec 15th 2023. A very limited number of shirts may be available for same-day registration, so please pre-register online or via mail. All finishers will get a nice custom finisher memento!
Hour long videos from the 2009 race & the 2013 race are on You Tube. Race news is posted on Facebook. Awards presented as runners finish. Lots of post-race food. Convenient 1pm start time. Event benefits Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC), a United Way agency & a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity. LVMC facilitates free one on one tutoring in a friendly, confidential setting. Tutoring is provided for both adults and children in reading, math & English as a second language (ESL).

This is a charity race for a local not-for-profit with 100% profit going towards Literacy Volunteers of Marion County. Absolutely no refunds. The race has been postponed only twice in 13 years. Those years runners were given the option of running the race as rescheduled or free entry at a 5K that summer or free entry the next year.
I-79, exit 139. Follow the signs to Pricketts Fort State Park. Race site is 3 miles from the interstate on a lightly traveled county road.
Awards are presented as runners cross the finish line - no waiting around for an awards ceremony. Top three male finishers overall. Race news will be posted on LVMC Run to Read Half Marathon. The event has been postponed a week due to icy conditions on the rail trail only twice in 13 years. Weather related news & other race news will be posted on facebook. Should the race have to be postponed, this will be announced on facebook. There are no refunds for any reason.
Nearby motels: exit 137 Clarion, exit 133 Super 8, Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn, exit 132 Fairfield Inn, Red Roof Inn, Days Inn. All these are close to the interstate except for the Euro Suites.
