One mile road race at 6:30pm. 5K run & 5K race walk at 7:00pm. Free & private post race pool party for runners, walkers & family members. Short sleeve tech shirts (open weave). USATF sanctioned. Lots of awards, lots of post race refreshments. The 5K run is event #5 in the MCPARC race series & is the 3rd leg of the Run to Read Triple Crown. The mile run is the 2nd leg of the triple crown. Those completing all 3 triple crown events receive a long sleeve wind shirt at the 2016 Run to Read Half Marathon in January. Benefits Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency and a 501(c)(3) entity.

Directions from I-79 (north & south) exit 136. Go north on WV 273 (Gateway Connector) toward downtown Fairmont, At the bottom of the hill turn left on WV 310. Travel 310 across the 3rd Street Bridge to Fairmont Ave. / US 250. Nine blocks to 12th St. Set gps for 205 12th St., Fairmont, WV.
Live results will be provided by the Runner's High on their web site (runhigh.com). Pictures of almost every participant should be posted on iPlayOutside a few days after the race.
Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC) was organized and incorporated in the late 1980's. LVMC is a United Way agency and a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. It is affiliated with Literacy West Virginia & with ProLiteracy Worldwide.
LCMC provides free one on one tutoring in a confidential and friendly setting. Adults and chidlren receive help with basic reading, math and English as a second language (ESL). Housed in the Marion County Adult & Community Education Center (MCACEC), LVMC accepts referrals from MCACEC's GED class.
LVMC holds another fundraiser, the Run to Read Half Marathon, in early January at Prickett's Fort State Park. All profits from both events go to LVMC and provide the organization with over a third of its annual revnue.
