Welcome to the 26th annual Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC) Run to Read 5K and 10K!
Run through beautiful Fairmont, West Virginia and relax afterwards with your family at the 12th street pool for swimming, food, and fun - included in the registration! Registration at 5:00pm and race starts at 6:00pm.
SWAG: Short sleeve tech shirts for runners registered before 6/30/2023. Limited extras on race day. Shirts from previous races may be available for purchase/donations.
Overall awards to top 3 females & top 3 males. Age group awards 3 deep: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29 , 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.
Course Map <- Click - Start line near East-West Stadium. Rolling course through residential neighborhoods of Fairmont's west side. Finish line in front of 12th Street Pool entrance. One water stop at halfway point for 5K (twice for 10K) and one at finish line. Bathrooms available at the pool.
No refund for any reason including weather.
All proceeds benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency and a 501(c)(3) entity. LVMC provides free tutoring to adults and children in basic reading, math, ESL (English as a second language), & GED preparation. LVMC is accredited by Pro Literacy Worldwide.
Marion County Police Reserves and the Fairmont City Police Dept. will provide traffic control. Be sure to come race with us during our winter Run to Read Half Marathon in January (always a great turnout!).

Directions from I-79 (north & south) exit 136. Go north on WV 273 (Gateway Connector) toward downtown Fairmont. At the bottom of the hill turn left on WV 310. Travel 310 across the 3rd Street Bridge to Fairmont Ave. / US 250. Nine blocks to 12th St. Set GPS for 205 12th St., Fairmont, WV.
Literacy Volunteers of Marion County
Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC) was organized and incorporated in the late 1980's. LVMC is a United Way agency and a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. It is affiliated with Literacy West Virginia & with ProLiteracy Worldwide.
LVMC provides free one on one tutoring in a confidential and friendly setting. Adults and chidlren receive help with basic reading, math and English as a second language (ESL). Housed in the Marion County Adult & Community Education Center (MCACEC), LVMC accepts referrals from MCACEC's GED class.
LVMC holds another fundraiser, the Run to Read Half Marathon, in early January at Prickett's Fort State Park. All profits from both events go to LVMC and provide the organization with over a third of its annual revnue.
