Join Summers County Public Library and Active SWV for a six week activity challenge!
People who get regular physical activity rack up lots of health benefits! Being active can help:
- Boost your mood and improve your sleep
- Lower your risk of heart disease and some cancers
- Help keep diabetes and high blood pressure under control
Experts say that adults should get a mix of activity for a total of at least 150 minutes per week to get healthy:
- Moderate-intensity aerobic activity. Any activity that gets you heart beating faster counts, like walking, running, biking, swimming, hiking, dance/aerobics, and even things you wouldn't expect, like gardening and cleaning the house!
- and at least 2 days a week of muscle strengthening activities. Any activities that make your muscles work harder than usual counts.
For this challenge, aim for 150 minutes (or more!) of activity per week. Track your activity by minutes, and log your progress as you work towards your 150 minute a week goal. By the end of the 6 week challenge, you will have completed at least 900 minutes of activity!
