Description
What better way to start your Thanksgiving Day will a little morning run/walk? Come out for the JRTI Turkey Trot 5k. All ages welcome! The 5k will be on the property of James Rumsey Technical Institute and include trail, grass, and pavement that is mostly flat with some gentle hills. Give Thanks, Give Back by bringing a donation for the local backpack programs. Donations will be collected in the registration area and distributed to local backpack programs to be distributed with the holiday backpacks. Any proceeds from the event will be used for youth focused initiatives.
Show your Turkey Trot spirit! Come out in festive attire!

Kids' Fun Run
Children ages 10 and under are invited to participate in the Sweet Potato Sprint hosted by United Way of the Eastern Panhandle. Registration is free and begins at 7:00 a.m. The race will be at 7:45 a.m. Race length is less than 1/4 mile. All Sweet Potato Sprint participants will receive a finisher’s medal and children’s book.

All paying runners and walkers will be electronically timed by Insight Timing Services. Onsite results will be available online via your mobile device.
FAQ
Are baby joggers/strollers allowed?
Strollers welcome, terrain is 90% on the road. There is a flat grassy area with a short area with switchbacks going down a grassy slope. The course has been revamped since 2022, it should be more stroller friendly.
Are dogs permitted?
Yes, dogs are permitted on a short leash, just be sure to clean up their waste.
