Both half marathon and 5K are part of the MCPARC race series.

Long sleeve tech shirts with little or no advertising. Availabilty limited on race day. Finisher medals in half marathon.
West Fork Rail Trail
At Monongah Town Hall afterwards. Soup, sandwiches, baked goods, fruit. Lots of food. The town hall is close to the finish line.
Walker friendly with 3 hour time limit in half marathon. No separate awards for walkers.
Seven opportunites for water in half marathon. One water stop at 5K turnaround for 5K entrants. Bathrooms at the town hall. At least one porta potty on the course.
Both races will be chip timed using disposable chips. iPlayOutside will take & post pictures. Results will be posted at smileymiles.com. Follow this event on facebook for news andupdates.
Both races feature level rail trail courses. Both courses are closed to traffic. Half marathon starts on dirt road and aprroximately 7/10's of a mile out turns onto rail trail. Double out and back. Half marathon turn around area is dirt surface. (Turnaround will be before the hill again this year.) 90% paved. 5K is out and back on paved portion of rail trail.
From the north - Morgantown, Pittsburgh, etc.:
Take I-79 to exit 132, get in the right lane to US 250 towards Fairmont. Travel .8 mile and turn left on Holbert Road, County Road 250/20. Go 1.2 miles and turn left at the 3 way stop on the Old Monongah Road / County Road 56. Travel .7 mile and at another 3 way stop, turn right and cross the bridge. Go another .7 mile. Total distance from I-79 to the race site is about 3.4 miles.
From the south - Clarksburg, Charleston, etc.
Take I-79 to exit 132, get in the left lane to US 250 towards Fairmont. Travel 1.1 miles and turn left on Holbert Road, County Road 250/20. Go 1.2 miles and turn left at the 3 way stop on the Old Monongah Road / County Road 56. Travel .7 mile and at another 3 way stop, turn right and cross the bridge. Go another .7 mile. Total distance from I-79 to the race site is about 3.7 miles.
Local runners coming from Fairmont – take US 19 to Monongah. Turn left at the Monongah Middle School by the sign for the West Fork Rail Trail. Turn left at the bottom of the hill and cross the bridge.
Local runners coming from Shinnston – take US 19 to Monongah. Turn right at the Monongah Middle School by the sign for the West Fork Rail Trail. Turn left at the bottom of the hill and cross the bridge.
