2023 REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON FEBRUARY 10, 2023 @ 9am MST

This year's race will not offer a 100 mile ( Epic) race distance. We'll only be holding a 100 K and 50 K races.

There will be some trails on mtn that may be rerouted this summer due to construction.

2023 COURSE DETAILS 

Course 2023 details

The course will have the start/ finish just off the main plaza at Grand Targhee Resort. The course will be marked with blue directional arrows and course tape, starting July 30th. 

Lap 1 - 100 K race- 25.6 miles and 3628' This will be the first year for this racecourse layout. Ride out Powder Reserve Traverse Road, turn right and descend the Peaked Trail, turn right on to Andy's and over to Buffalo Soldier trail. Around Buffalo Soldier to Action Jackson, turn left on Action Jackson, before you get back to the base area you'll turn right and ride up Yada, Yada, Yada, then turn left on Andy's trail. At the intersection of Andy's and Planet Claire, you turn left on Planet Claire and over to the main parking lot. Cross the road at the main parking lot and you’ll head out on Greenhorn trail turn left on to Jolly Green Giants Trail. After Jolly Green Giants take a right on Roundabout and over to the Targhee base area. Ride mtn service road around base area and past the bottom of the Shoshone lift and feed zone at 14.5 miles. Ride under the flyover and continue up the service road to Tall Cool One trail. The climb up Tall Cool One is 7 miles and just under 2000' of climbing to the top of the mtn at just under 10,000'. At the end of Tall Cool One turn left on the upper mtn service road and continue to the top. Then as you past by the top of the chairlift go straight down the Grand Traverse trail. You'll continue straight at the Mary's saddle intersection and descend down Sidewinder trail down to the Shoshone road and top of the bike park trails. You continue straight on to Otter Slide flow trail; at the bottom of the trail, you begin your second lap at the Start/ Finish. The feed an aid station will be just after the Start / Finish line as you ride back up the Powder Reserve Traverse road.

Race lap #1 for 50 K and lap 2 for 100 K racers, 3831' of climbing 31.3 miles/ Ride out Powder Reserve Traverse Road, Left on to Peaked Trail, Climb Peaked around Ain't Life Grand and over to 38 Special Trail.  Descend 38 Special Trail and climb Colter's Escape trail back up to Andy's and over to Buffalo Soldier around to Action Jackson. Turn left off Action Jackson and onto Planet Claire trail. Cross the road at the main parking lot and you’ll head out on Greenhorn trail turn left on to Jolly Green Giants Trail. After Jolly Green Giants take a right on Roundabout and over to the Targhee base area. Ride mtn service road around base area and past the bottom of the Shoshone lift and feed zone at 19.1 miles. Ride under the flyover and continue up the service road to Pika trail. Stay right on the nordic road just past the Blackfoot chairlift. Turn right on to More Cowbell trail and climb out to the beginning of Perma- Grin trail. At the end of Perma -grin take a right turn onto Rick's Basin trail. Ride Rick's Basin trail around and turn right onto Quakie trail and over to the North Woods trail, ride this trail counterclockwise and back around to Quakie trail. At the end of the Quakie trail you will continue on the remaining section of Rick's Basin trail and climb back out towards the Snowdrift trail. Take a right on to the Snowdrift trail, turn right on pika trail, stay right when you hit the nordic road connector and then turn right onto Yogi trail. At the end of Yogi trail, you'll ride over the flyover and the last 100 yds up grass music venue and back to the Start/Finish just off the main plaza at the resort.

Any racer who drops out along the course during the race, should get word to a race official that they have dropped out and are ok. So, we're not out looking for you, when you're on your drive home. Aid Stations

There will be 2 feed zones along the course.

Aid #1@ 19.1 miles is located just off the service road just before the bottom of the Shoshone beginner lift. Just 100yds from the main plaza.

Aid #2 just after start / finish along the service road climb @ mile 31 of a full lap. Racers can drop off coolers and bags at each aid zone before they race. Both Aid Stations are only a few hundred feet from the start /finish.

Food @ Aid Stations- Hammer products-drinks and gels, Water, cookies, chips, bananas, watermelon.

Bike wash is located by the top of the music venue just before the start/ finish line.

Racers check in -

Racer info and check in will be held at Grand Targhee RCR South room (upstairs in main base lodge building) at 3:00pm-6:30pm on Friday, August 5th. Racers will receive bike plates, timing chip and swag bags along with answering any questions regarding the course and race. Any racers who can’t make the Friday check in will be able to pick up plates Saturday morning 6:00 am- 6:45am (100 K) upstairs in RCR South (upstairs in main base lodge building)

 

All racers must start in their listed start time or risk being DQed.

The cut off times-

100 K -starting second lap -noon.

After race lunch

A lunch will be served in Wild Bill's, free for racers. Racers family can purchase additional tickets for $16 at the dinner line. Food will be served from 11:30 -4:00pm

Camping

Camping can be purchased online store. Camping will be available at Grand Targhee in the lower parking area. Camping is available Thursday-Sunday for $35 per night per campsite for the event. All dogs must be on a leash in the camping area and around the racecourse during the race. Tent and RV are the same price, kids 18 and under camp for free, purchase online or at the Lodging Front Desk. Showers will not be available this year.
