Training Plans for the Warrior 5k are provided by Run Minnesota. Run Minnesota connects the running community and supports runners of all ages and abilities through education, programs, and advocacy. Walk/Run a 5k (3.1 miles) in 8 Weeks (Walk More Than Run)
This program is for those of you who are brand new to running or have not been exercising regularly for a longer period of time. The Walk/Run a 5K (Walk More Than Run) program starts out conservatively with only walking during the first week. Walking can give you the benefit of better aerobic conditioning if you increasingly put more energy into your stride and pick up the pace. Running for a few minutes at a time is gradually increased over the 8 weeks of the program. Feel free to repeat the first week more than once until you are tempted to add a bit of running. If you want to continue walking, do so, and walk faster when it is indicated in the program.
Run a 5k (3.1 miles) in 8 Weeks (Run More than Walk)
The Run a 5K (Run More Than Walk) program assumes you already have some aerobic conditioning, or you are returning to running after a little time off. The first three weeks are fairly easy, but after that the training consists of 100 percent running.
