Yes. Race day registration will be available from 7:30–8:45 a.m. at the Red Welcome Tent. We encourage you to register in advance to secure your spot and help us plan accordingly.
Yes! Students and alumni receive $5 off registration. Use coupon code WCCStudent or WCCAlumni at checkout.
No. Refunds and registration transfers are not permitted.
Packet Pickup
We strongly encourage participants to take advantage of curbside packet pick-up on Thursday, May 28, from 3:00–6:00 p.m. in front of the Field House on the Sugar Grove Campus.
Race day pick-up will also be available from 7:30–8:45 a.m. at the Red Welcome Tent in parking lot N2.
Yes. A friend or family member is welcome to pick up your packet for you.
Your packet will contain your race bib, safety pins, race shirt, food voucher, and promotional items from our sponsors.
Race Day Logistics
Participants should park in the N4 lot. (See event map.) All parking areas will be open except N2.
Yes. Public restrooms and a bottle filling station are located in the Waubonsee Field House, adjacent to the start/finish area.
No, we do not offer a gear check.
The start/finish area is located at the north end of parking lot N2, just south of the new tennis and pickleball court complex.
The race begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.
The event will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, adjustments may be made for participant safety. Registration fees are non-refundable due to weather.
Course & Amenities
Yes! We welcome runners and walkers of all experience levels—from competitive racers to families, alumni, students, employees, and community members enjoying a morning on the trail.
If you plan to walk or prefer a more relaxed pace, we kindly ask that you line up toward the back of the starting pack to ensure a smooth and safe start for everyone.
The course is marked with a white line, and trail guides will be stationed along the route to help keep participants on the designated path.
Yes. Water stations will be located at the start/finish area and just before the 2-mile marker.
Safety & Support
Dogs are welcome provided they are friendly and remain leashed at all times, and provided that owners clean up after them. For everyone’s safety, participants with dogs should line up toward the back of the starting pack.
Service animals are permitted in all public areas of campus.
Because this is a trail run that passes through wooded and prairie areas with uneven terrain, strollers are strongly discouraged.
Yes, but please ensure you can still hear your surroundings and fellow participants while on the course.
Yes. Waubonsee’s Athletics Trainer and nursing students will staff the first aid tent at the start/finish area. A Sugar Grove ambulance will be on site in case of emergency, and trail guides along the course will be prepared to call for assistance if needed.
Timing & Results
The race will feature RFID chip timing provided by IL Prep Top Timing.
Live results will update online every 15 seconds and will be sent to finishers following the event.
Awards & Swag
Register by May 1 to be guaranteed a race shirt. After that date, shirts will be available while supplies last.
Yes! This year all participants—not just 10K runners—will receive a finisher medal designed and produced by the Waubonsee CADD Club.
Prize packs will be awarded to the fastest female and fastest male runners in both the 5K and 10K categories.
No, we do not offer that option at this time.
Spectators & Food
Absolutely! Spectators are welcome and encouraged to cheer on participants.
Participants will receive a voucher that may be redeemed at any participating food truck for one of the designated menu items.
Yes. Food trucks will accept cash and card purchases in addition to participant vouchers.
Support for Scholarships
The Waubonsee Foundation Trail Run benefits student scholarships, helping more students persist, graduate, and achieve their goals.
Absolutely. Donations may be made online at waubonsee.edu/donate or by cash or check at the event.
