Volunteer assignments and race-day resources
- Course monitors V01–V22: locations and descriptions — duties, operating windows, release notes and approximate coordinates.
- Barricade locations B01–B12 — vehicle-control locations, nearby posts and operating windows.
- Water stop W1 and traffic notes — water service, shared-course coverage and traffic-release requirements.
- 5K and one-mile turn-by-turn directions — current proposed routing and City review package.
- Schedule and venue — race-day schedule, packet pickup and start/finish location.
- Parking — existing event parking information.
- Volunteer sign-up and shifts
Key points for course volunteers
- V01: one-mile participants turn west onto the southern park sidewalk; 5K participants continue south.
- V12: outbound 5K participants continue south on Water Street. Returning 5K participants turn left through Veterans Memorial, then north onto the Riverwalk. W1 serves both passes and is staffed separately.
- V16: the 5K turnaround is near Muters Alley, south of Dock Street. Dock Street is not the turnaround.
- V19–V22: participants use the Nutt sidewalk, the west side of Cowan Circle, then travel west on Harnett to V02 and the promenade finish. Nutt north of Cowan stays open to vehicles.
- Keep coverage for every required pass. An opening vehicle-hold release does not end a returning-course assignment. Follow the release instructions for your post.
Plan status and reporting details
These course and operations materials were prepared for City review and updated September 11, 2026. They are proposed planning materials and do not establish final City approval. Routes are mapped, not field-measured or certified; marker locations are approximate.
The 22 numbered monitor posts identify locations, not a final staffing headcount. V05 and V20 need coverage at each active driveway, and W1 needs separate water-service staffing. Named assignments, final headcounts, contacts and exact reporting times remain to be confirmed by the race team. Use your confirmed volunteer assignment for when and where to report.
Operating windows in the course documents run from the 5K start. Check the linked schedule for current event times and follow race-team instructions on race day.
