Q. What is this virtual run?
A. This is a safe virtual event where thousands of runners/walkers throughout the world compete at the same time to get fit and help set a Guinness World Records (TM)!
Q. What is the One NY discount?
A. A discount to this event will be provided to all One NY Challenge participants. One NY participants will be guaranteed an entry into this event and given a discount of $10.00 off. Each entrant will be allowed to enter one (1) friend with them as they enter at the discounted rate. One NY participants will receive an email with exact instructions on how to register for the World's Largest Virtual Run.

Q. Can I still register?
A. Yes! Registration is open until August 28th, 2020. However, we suggest you register early to run a practice event on our special live tracking app!
Q. How do I get the tracking app?
A. CLICK HERE
Q. Do I have to carry my smartphone with me?
A. Yes, your phone will have our app on it. Smart watches (e.g Apple Watches do not count)
Q. What if I bike, skateboard, rollerblade or get in a vehicle?
A. The app has an algorithm to detect various types of impropriety. If abnormal behavior is detected, we will be alerted and look into each case prior to submitting official results to Guinness World Records (TM).
Q. What distances can I run?
A. 5k or half marathon!
Q. May I run / walk this on a treadmill?
A. Unfortunately, you can not. This is due to the GPS tracking app you will be using for results verification through Guinness World Records (TM).
Q. WHEN do I run?
A. All runners shall begin at 8am (their timezone) on Saturday, August 29th, 2020.
Q. WHERE do I run?
A. ANYWHERE SAFE. You will run in a safe location near your house or anywhere you wish to travel to! Although we love hills and scenery, we would suggest a flat and fast course!
Q. How many participants do we need for the Guinness World Records (TM) Attempt?
A. The current record is 6,817 but we plan on smashing it with your help!
Q. What does the live tracker (app) show?
A. The live tracker will show the following:
- Your map/route
- Your bib number
- Your location/distance/time
- Your pace and predicted finish time
- Your live ranking worldwide
- Your team and country place
- Where you stand compared to other runners on our map from London, England.
- Landmarks around our route
Q. How do I download the tracking app?

Q. How do I download my bib number to share on social media?
A. CLICK HERE, search for yourself and then click your bib number.
Q. How do I see if my friends registered?

Q. Do I have to run the entire race?
A. No! Many of our participants are walkers. Run, walk or crawl, just get it done safely!
Q. What does this event cost?
A. $40 USD
Q. Is Canada in North America?
A. ummm yes.
Q. Is Mexico in North America?
A. ummmmmm yes.
Q. Can I compete outside of the United States?
A. Yes! We just ask for $14.99 for additional shipping charges if outside of North America
Q. What does this event benefit?
A. The International Red Cross. Please see our amazing cause here.
Q. Do we get any SWAG?
A. YES! All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt & huge spinner medal. Click here for photos.
Q. Are there shipping charges?
A. Not in North America, only internationally.
Q. When will I receive my SWAG?
A. We plan on sending items out in late September 2020 as we adjudicate our record attempt with the Guinness World Records (TM).
Q. Do I need a GPS watch/tracker, or Strava?
A: No, but you must carry your phone with you with our app running!
Q. Who is producing this world record attempt?
A: Upstate Event Management LLC, based in New York, United States. Upstate Event Management LLC were the architects behind the popular One NY Virtual Challenge.
Q. Do you have to be fast?
A: No! Participants of all abilities are welcome.
Q. Can I edit my shirt size?
A. Yes, you can until 8/28/20, if your desired size is still available! To edit your size, log into your runsignup account and click Profile, and then My Registered Races. Find the World's Largest Virtual Run and click Manage Registration. Select the Shirt Size Edit tab on the left-hand side of the screen, and update your size from the drop-down menu.
Q. What timezone are we using?
A.Whatever timezone you're in is when you'll run your race at 8am.
Team Questions
Q. I'm already registered but want to join a team, can I?
A. Yes! Follow these instructions:
- Log into your Runsignup profile, Go to my Profile >My Registered Races > Worlds Largest Virtual Run > Manage Registration, then click Group/Team at the bottom of page and Join Existing Group/Team, find the group you want to join on the list and save.
Q. Do you NEED 5 on a team?
A. No, but the leaderboard will only tally results for teams with 5
Q. Do teams receive a discount?
A. Yes! Once you hit 10 team members, you will all receive a $10 refund/discount. Please note that this discount can not be combined with any other discount codes or offers.
