COVID-19 Updates
2021 YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon Entry Requirements
As we closely monitor the status of the COVID-19 Delta variant and prepare for the 2021 Famous Idaho Potato Marathon, we are proceeding with your safety as our top priority. With this in mind, we are announcing new health & safety entry requirements for all participants.
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of race day is required to attend in person for the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato on Sept 18. Please read below for more details, and what this means for race day.
FIP Packet Pick Up & Entry Procedures
- Prior to arrival at packet pickup and/or race areas, please read the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon Health Pledge (below), and ensure that you can comply.
- We require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination from all race participants OR a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of race day. You may bring your vaccination card, a photo or digital copy. Volunteers will match your ID to your proof of vaccination.*
- Once you receive your “COVID-19 All Clear”, you may proceed to pick up your bib number and race swag! Pick up your race bib and packet – your race bib is your ticket into the starting and finish line areas.
- You must wear your race bib to be allowed into the start and finish areas. Spectators will not be allowed into these areas.
*We won’t collect, save or keep any of your data. It’s simply used to verify proof and allow you access into the race area.
YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon Health Pledge
We ask that you DO NOT ATTEND the race if any of the following is true for you or anyone in your party:
- Within 14 days prior to attending the race you have tested positive or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
- Within 48 hours prior to attending the race, you have experienced signs or symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
- Within 14 days prior to attending the race you have traveled to any international territory identified by federal or applicable state or local governments as being subject to travel or quarantine advisories due to COVID-19.
Masks
Face coverings will be required - regardless of vaccination status - in certain areas of the Famous Idaho Potato footprint, including buses, start and finish line areas, and event tents. Please bring a face covering and have one with you at all times. All staff, volunteers, and vendors will be required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.
COVID-19 WARNING

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. There is an inherent and elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place or place where people are present and there is no guarantee, express or implied, that those attending the festival (or any part of it) will not be exposed to COVID-19.
We are taking enhanced health and safety measures for you, other participants, volunteers, and YMCA staff. You must follow all posted instructions while attending YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon and Fun Runs (or any part of the event).
By attending the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon and Fun Runs, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep the Y open and safe for all.
