How to Participate Virtually

Yule Run Clinton 2020, presented by Continental: Virtual Race FAQs

How Do I Participate?

  1. Race.
This is your virtual race! You get to choose – complete it whenever and wherever you want during the month of December. Participants have the option to complete their races indoors on a treadmill or outside at their favorite running or walking locations. Want to make it a family event or include your pet? You can! Remember: this is your event. The goal is to complete it.
  2. Smile.
We would love to see any photos of our participants completing their events. If you post photos online, please tag us in your posts @YuleRunClinton2020 or email them to us at info@clintonchamber.org. As a bonus, organizers will be posting photo competitions during December for race participants. Even if you’re not the fastest, you can still take the best photo for these events to win special prizes!
  3. Share.
Join our online participant community during the month of December for all things Yule Run Clinton 2020, presented by Continental! Check out our Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/yulerunclinton2020 (@YuleRunClinton2020) or watch our Facebook event page at http://fb.me/e/4L5295oVI for more ways to interact virtually with the race. By joining our online Facebook Group, you are joining a family whose goal is to support and motivate each other to continue healthy habits during this strange, 2020 holiday season. We encourage everyone who has signed up for an event to join, share posts, and be a part of something special.
  4. Report.
After completing your race, remember to post your results to our Runsignup page at www.runsignup.com/yulerunclinton/results to see how you placed in the virtual event. Finisher Certificates with your time and place will be available for download after December 31st for all participants who submit their results online during December.

What Do I Need to Participate?
It really depends on you – we encourage you to follow your local health guidelines and safety regulations while you participate wherever and whenever you complete the race. You are welcome to complete your race before you receive your medal and t-shirt, or you can wait until you receive these items and wear them proudly while you run or walk. Organizers have also provided each participant with a specially-themed bib you can download from your race profile. For more information on how to access this bib, please refer to Runsignup’s help documentation at View Digital Bib

When is the Deadline to Complete the Race?
You may complete your race anytime during the month of December. Submissions are open online at www.runsignup.com/yulerunclinton/results from December 1st through December 31st at midnight.

Do I Have to Submit Results to Receive my Medal and T-shirt?
No. You will receive your medal, t-shirt, and swag bag in the mail at the address you used to register. If you would like to download a Finisher Certificate with your results, however, you will need to submit your times online at www.runsignup.com/yulerunclinton/results before the end of December.

When Will You Ship My Items?
Organizers will begin shipping packets on Friday, December 11th. Due to the current environment and holiday season, however, there may be unforeseen shipping delays so please be patient as you wait to receive your items.

How Do I Track my Distance and Time?
Results are self-reported on an honor system. The most accurate way to track your distance and time is with a GPS tracking app on your phone or another device. Apps like MapMyRun, Strava, and Nike Run Club work well and are quite popular with racers. Some participants will utilize their smart-watches. Our results system will even accept downloaded GPX, FIT, or TCX file formats from various tracking methods. If you are unable to track your results with one of these apps or a device, however, there is an option on the results page to simply select that you completed the race without submitting a time or distance.
*Note: For our international participants – please be aware that distances should be reported in miles (5K is about 3.10686 miles, and 8K is about 4.97097 miles).

How Do I Submit my Results?
You can post your results by going to our Runsignup page at www.runsignup.com/yulerunclinton/results or by viewing the .pdf attached to the bottom of this page. For more information from Runsignup about viewing or submitting virtual results, please refer to their help documentation at the links below.

How Do I Download my Finisher Certificate?
After December 31st, all participants who submitted their race times and distances can download Finisher Certificates with their official results. To find yours, go to our results page at www.runsignup.com/yulerunclinton/results, and select your name in the race list. Your certificate will be available for download on your individual results page. For more detailed instructions on how to find your certificate, refer to Runsignup’s help documentation at Finding Your Finisher Certificate (for Registrants).

Why Does my Medal Have a Small Green Ribbon Attached?
That’s because we wanted you to be able to celebrate this virtual event every year. That’s right! This year’s medal can be separated from the race ribbon and displayed using the small green hanging ribbon as an ornament in your home or on your Christmas tree for years to come.
*Note: Rudolph’s nose lights up, with an on/off button on the back. If his nose ever “loses its shine”, please be aware that the batteries are NOT lithium; they are an alkaline type AG3.

Who is Rudolph?
The most famous reindeer of all. He has a red nose that shines so bright and helps guide Santa’s sleigh. For more information, you can read online about Rudolph in general at Wikipedia or more in-depth about the licensing company for his character from the 1964 stop-motion film at www.characterarts.com.
