GENERAL QUESTIONS

 

Can I register for an event on the race day?  Yes, only if space is available. The cost of registration will be $40 for the Mini, $55 for the 5k, and $90 for the Ninja on race day and you can pay with cash or card.

When is race packet pick up?  

Pre-race packet pickup:  Friday, October 8, 2021 from 3:00pm - 6:00 pm at the Metro Richmond Zoo.

Race-day packet pickup: Saturday, October 9, 2021 30-60 minutes before your start time.

What time should I arrive on race day? Runners must check-in between 7:00 am - 7:45 am for the Mini and between 7:30 am - 8:15 am for the 5k. (see your registration information for most accurate arrival times)

Will there be a wave start? Yes, start waves will commence every few minutes.  Runners will be provided plenty of space to stretch while they wait in the start lane queues.

Where can we park for the race?   Race parking will be provided in a designated area of the Metro Richmond Zoo's parking lot. Parking is free, please follow signage and attendants on race day to be directed to the right area.

Is there a fee for parking?  Parking is FREE. 

Can I run with my 4-11 year old on the Run Wild Mini? Yes, but you are still required to have a registration to participate.  Children under 4 (stroller riders) do not need a ticket.

RACE INFORMATION

 

Is there drinking water on the course?  There will be water available at the start, middle, and end of the course. (Start and finish on the Mini)

Are there bathrooms available?  Yes, the bathrooms at the Zoo's Treetop Zoofari building will be open for race use. The building is located outside the Zoo entrance to the far left.

Are there bathrooms on the course?  No, you must use the designated bathrooms located near the race venue prior to beginning the race.

Can I run with my dog and other animals?  Dogs and other animals will NOT be permitted at the race venue or on the race course.

Can I run with my stroller?  Strollers are permitted on the Mini and must be able to handle all-terrain. (gravel 5%, grass 20%, dirt 5%, pavement 70%) Only strollers with large bike/type tires are permitted on the 5k and Ninja. *Terrain is rough and bumpy*  Young children are not permitted on the ninja obstacles with you.

What is the age limit for the 5k race?  Runners must be at least 8 years old to run.  Runners 8 - 11 years old must have an adult run with them. Parents may also designate a responsible older sibling or friend to participate with their kids age 8-11.

What is the age limit for the Mini (1 mile) race?  This 1 mile fun run is designed for children age 4 - 11. But runners of all ages are welcome with a participating child.  Parents must participate with a child age 4-6. Parents may also designate a responsible older sibling or friend to participate with their kids age 4-6.

What is the age limit for the Ninja race?  Runners must be at least 10 years old to run.  Runners 10 - 13 years old must have an adult run with them. Parents may also designate a responsible older sibling or friend to participate with their kids age 10-13.

What if I need medical attention?  We will have medical volunteers on site.

Will my results be posted? Do you time runners?  No,Yes,No.  Mini runners are not timed. (a clock will be running for your reference) Each 5k runner will be given a race bib with a timing chip. Look for timing results on our website after the race. The Ninja is not a timed event; its a points based event.  Each participant will be given a bib, score is accumulated after each obstacle where a volunteer will give the correct valuation on bibs.  At completion, participants stop by a recording station to log their score that will be posted online. Don't forget this step, we don't want to record you as "Data Deficient."

Where is the start line?  Please review our race venue and course map above.

Are spectators allowed? Yes, spectators will have space in the start line field and finish line field to spread out and watch their runners.

Will bad weather cancel the race?  We will operate rain or shine.  If there is lightning, we will delay until the storm passes. 

Is the 5k race USATF certified?  No, the 5k is not a USATF certified course.  The Run Wild 5k is 3.1 miles long. The Run Wild Mini is 1 mile long. The Run Wild Ninja is approx. 2 miles long.

Will there be a bag check?  No bag check will be available. Please keep all of your belongings in the car.

Can I listen to music during the race?  Headphones are allowed; however, no speakers are permitted for the safety of the animals.

What is your refund policy?  All sales are final and there are no refunds. Race will be held rain or shine during current pandemic restrictions. You may choose to defer your race until a future race: Spring 2022 or Fall 2022.
