What is bow-WOW-walk?
The bow-WOW-walk supports the animals and lifesaving programs at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. A huge hit for both two-legged and four-legged friends alike! The 2024 5k run and bow-WOW-walk at Boar's Head Resort will feature human and doggie entertainment, canine competitions, treats for humans and pups, and animal-friendly sponsors.
Each registered 5K runner or walker will receive:
11th Annual bow-WOW-walk t-shirt
Drawstring Bag
Bandana
Pet Waste Dispenser
*We cannot guarantee drawstring bags, bandanas, and pet waste dispensers if you sign up after 4/19/24 after 12 PM EST. *

Can I register in person on the day of the event?
Yes! You may register in person on the day of the event. However, we encourage you to pre-register.
What time should I arrive?
While check-in begins at 8:30, please be mindful that those that are running the 5K will need to check-in first (Race begins at 9:30am). However, check-in is open from 8:30 am to 10:00 am and the bow-WOW-walk will begin officially at 10:30.
Where do I park?
There will be parking at Boar’s Head Resort. Please follow the signs
Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes! We will have an awards ceremony to award the top finisher for both men and women beginning approximately 10:30 am, after the bow-WOW-wow walk officially begins.
Can dogs run the 5K?
No, dogs are not allowed on the race course. They are encouraged to participate in the bow-WOW-walk!
How do I get my 11th Annual bow-WOW-shirt?
Every registered walker will get a t-shirt. Only one shirt per registered participant.
How Do I Become A Fundraiser?
If you decide that you'd like to join us in our efforts to raise funds, we've outlined the steps here:
Click on "Become a Fundraiser" to begin!
Follow the prompts to enter information about your fundraiser -- this includes your name, a tagline...even your own URL.
You may keep the default goal amount or increase it if you wish!
Use the description we've provided or personalize it as appropriate.
Other ways you can personalize your page are by uploading a profile photo, creating a slideshow, and sharing your personal story that inspires people to donate.
Share your fundraising page with friends, family, and on social media to start raising money.
You'll be able to monitor your progress and thank your donors as you reach your fundraising goals right from your page.

I am a team captain. How do I invite people to join my team?
There are two ways to add members to your team:
Prospective team members may search for your team by clicking “Join an existing team” when they register and join from there, whether or not they have received an invitation from you.
If you have registered as an individual but would like to join an existing team, please contact Sandra Fries at sfries@caspca.org or 434-973-5959 ext. 313 to be manually added to an existing team.
Do I have to join a team?
No, you may participate as an individual or as part of a team!
Someone gave me a cash donation- what do I do with it?
Great job! You can bring it by the shelter and the front desk will assist with the donation. We’re located at 3355 Berkmar Drive Charlottesville, VA 22901
Someone gave me a check as a donation- what do I do with it?
Great job! You can either bring it by the shelter and the front desk will assist you, or you can download this form and mail it with the check to Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA Attn: bow-WOW-walk P.O. Box 7047 Charlottesville, VA 22906.
I made a Facebook fundraiser- how do I get credit for it on my personal fundraising page?
Enter it into your fundraising center as an “Offline Donation” and email Sandra Fries at sfries@caspca.org with the following information- name, team name (if part of a team), amount fundraised, the date the fundraiser closed. Once we confirm the donation, we’ll mark it received!
