What is bow-WOW-walk?
The bow-WOW-walk includes a competitive trail race and non-competitive, dog friendly walk. It’s a celebration of wellness, community, and compassion. This annual event brings together animal lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and local supporters to promote healthy living for both people and pets. By participating, you’re not just enjoying a scenic run or walk with your furry companion—you’re helping build a brighter future for homeless animals in need. Every step taken strengthens our community, supports CASPCA’s lifesaving mission, and fosters a more compassionate world for pets and their people.

**bow-WOW-walk is a rain-or-shine event!**
Can I register in person on the day of the event?
Yes! You may register in person on the day of the event. However, we encourage you to pre-register.
What time should I arrive?
While check-in begins at 8:30, please be mindful that those who are running will need to check in first (The race begins at 9:30 am). However, check-in is open from 8:30 am to 10:00 am and the bow-WOW-walk will begin officially at 10:30.
Where do I park?
There will be parking at Boar’s Head Resort. Please follow the signs and volunteers!
Will there be awards?
Yes! In addition to awards for the top Male and Female finisher in the race, we will also be awarding some non-conventional human and canine standouts!

- Team Spirit- Team with the best energy
- Social Media Star- Generates/posts the most about the event
- Power Pacer- Fastest Walker
- Top Tail Wagger- Dog with the happiest energy

- Paw-some Companion- Pet that stays the closest or has the best bond with human
- Ultimate Tail-Ender- Whoever brings up the rear
- Coolest Canine- Dog with the calmest energy
Can dogs run the trail race?
No, dogs are not allowed on the race course. Dogs are encouraged to participate in the bow-WOW-walk!
Do I get my 12th Annual bow-WOW-walk shirt?
Every registered walker will get a t-shirt and a walker bag.

The bow-WOW-walk isn’t just a fun run/walk—it’s your chance to be a hero for homeless animals! Rally your friends, family, and coworkers to join your mission, and together, you’ll provide lifesaving care, shelter, and second chances to animals in need. It’s simple, meaningful and makes a real difference for animals in need!

How to Become a Fundraiser:
Step 1: Sign Up -
Click "Become a Fundraiser" to get started!
Step 2: Set Up Your Fundraising Page
Follow the prompts to create your personal page, including:
✅ Your name
✅ A custom tagline
✅ A unique fundraising URL
You can keep the default fundraising goal or set your own! Make your page stand out by adding a profile photo, a slideshow, and a personal story to inspire donations.
Step 3: Share & Fundraise
Spread the word! Share your page with friends, family, and on social media to start raising money. You’ll be able to track your progress and thank your donors directly from your page.
Want to Fundraise as a Team? Here's How!
1️⃣ First, sign up as an individual fundraiser (see above).
2️⃣ Click "Join a Team" to search for an existing team OR create your own!
3️⃣ Customize your team page with a name, fundraising goal, photos, and a story to inspire donations.
4️⃣ Share your team page far and wide—friends, family, coworkers—everyone can help!
5️⃣ Track your team’s progress and celebrate every dollar raised together.
Team Captains: How to Invite Members
There are two ways to add members to your team:
1️⃣ Team members can find and join your team by selecting “Join an existing team” during registration. (They must register as an individual fundraiser first!)
2️⃣ If someone registered as an individual but wants to join a team later, they can contact Sara Stone at sstone@caspca.org or 434-973-5959 ext. 111 to be manually added.
Do I Have to Join a Team?
Nope! You can participate as an individual or as part of a team—whatever works best for you!
What Do I Do with Cash or Check Donations?
💵 Cash Donations: Bring it to the shelter front desk at 3355 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901—we’ll take care of the rest!

How Do I Get Credit for a Facebook Fundraiser?
Enter the amount in your fundraising center as an Offline Donation and email Sara Stone at sstone@caspca.org with:
📌 Your name
📌 Team name (if applicable)
📌 Amount raised
📌 Date the fundraiser closed
Once we confirm the donation, we’ll mark it as received!
