Wheeled Athlete Participation Guidelines
The Dublin Irish Festival 5K is committed to providing an inclusive event experience and welcomes participants of all abilities.
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone on the course, race officials may adjust start procedures and participant placement based on the type of equipment being used, expected speed, and course conditions.
Racing Wheelchairs
Athletes competing in racing wheelchairs are welcome to participate.
Because racing wheelchair athletes often travel at speeds faster than the lead runners, they may be assigned a dedicated start position ahead of the main field. The exact start procedure will be determined by race management and communicated prior to race day.
Participants planning to compete in a racing wheelchair are encouraged to contact race management in advance so appropriate accommodations can be arranged.
Mobility Devices and Standard Wheelchairs
Participants using standard wheelchairs, mobility devices, or similar equipment are welcome to participate in the event.
For the safety of all participants, these athletes and any companions assisting them may be assigned a start position near the back of the starting field or another location designated by race officials.
Course Conditions
The Dublin Irish Festival 5K course utilizes public streets and pathways that may include turns, varying pavement conditions, crowds, and other event-related factors. Participants should review course information before race day and contact race management with any questions regarding accessibility.
Race Management Authority
Race officials reserve the right to determine start procedures, participant placement, and other accommodations necessary to maintain a safe event environment for all participants.
Questions regarding wheeled athlete participation may be directed to race management prior to race day.
