Kent Pumpkin Run Frequently Asked Questions - We're Turning 50!

Is there race day registration?

Yes! Online registration will remain open until 1hr minutes before the start of each race. 

Note: Cell service and Wi-Fi can be limited in some areas around Kent. We recommend registering online before arriving at the event.

All online registrants should check in at the registration tent to receive their bib number and sweatshirt.

Prefer to pay with cash or check? Race day registration will be available beginning at 8:00 AM at the registration tent located near the start/finish area on the Kent Green.


Can I pick up my bib number early?

Yes! Early bib pickup details will be announced closer to race day.

We encourage participants to pick up their race materials in advance to avoid race morning lines and enjoy all the festivities throughout town.


Where can I park?

Free parking is available throughout the Town of Kent.

Parking options include:

  • Kent Town Hall - Please be mindful of early voting.
  • Kent Green
  • Main Street Route 7 

Please follow volunteer and police instructions upon arrival and consider carpooling whenever possible.


Is the course well marked?

Absolutely! Every mile will be clearly marked, and water stop volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to direct runners and provide encouragement.


Are the roads closed?

The Kent Pumpkin Run utilizes a combination of roadways. Some roads may have temporary traffic control, but participants should remain aware of their surroundings at all times and follow instructions from police officers, race officials, and volunteers.


What happens in bad weather?

The Pumpkin Run takes place rain or shine.

In the event of severe weather conditions that create unsafe conditions, race officials will determine whether modifications, delays, or cancellations are necessary. Any updates will be communicated through our website and social media channels.


Can I volunteer?

Yes! Volunteers are essential to making the Kent Pumpkin Run a success.

Whether you're helping with registration, course marshaling, water stations, setup, or cleanup, we'd love your help.

Where does the money go?

The Kent Pumpkin Run is organized by volunteers and supports local community organizations, youth programs, and charitable initiatives throughout the Town of Kent.

As we celebrate the 50th Annual Kent Pumpkin Run, a portion of ticket proceeds will go towards building a new shelter at Emery Park in honor of Robby Kennedy and will continue supporting Kent Food Bank. 


Can I run with a stroller?

Yes. Strollers are welcome, but we ask that participants line up toward the back of the starting area and exercise caution throughout the course.


Can I walk the course?

Absolutely! Walkers are encouraged to participate.

Whether you're racing for a personal best or simply enjoying a beautiful autumn morning in Kent, everyone is welcome.


 

Can I transfer my registration?

Yes. Participants may transfer their registration to another runner prior to race day through the registration system.

Additional instructions will be provided in your registration confirmation email.


Is there an awards ceremony?

Yes! Awards will be presented following the completion of the races.

Awards will be given to overall winners, age group winners, and best dressed awards as part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration.


Will there be food and refreshments?

Yes! Participants and spectators can enjoy refreshments, local vendors, and the many shops, restaurants, and businesses throughout downtown Kent. Participants can enjoy homemade pumpkin soup from High Watch and will recieve a snack bag with treats. 

Be sure to spend some time exploring Main Street and supporting local businesses while you're in town.


What makes 2026 special?

The 2026 Kent Pumpkin Run marks the 50th running of this beloved community tradition.

Join us as we celebrate five decades of running through the beautiful fall scenery of Kent, Connecticut. Expect special anniversary merchandise, commemorative medals, historic displays, community activities, and plenty of surprises as we honor the runners, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who have made the Pumpkin Run possible for half a century.

Since 1977, the Kent Pumpkin Run has brought together runners, families, volunteers, businesses, and visitors for one of Connecticut's most beloved fall traditions. What began as a local road race has grown into Kent's largest one-day community event, creating generations of memories along the way.

The Kent Pumpkin Run is proudly organized by the Kent Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the support of our sponsors, volunteers, local businesses, and runners. Thank you for helping us celebrate 50 incredible years.
