LOBO CANCER CHALLENGE HITS 10-YEAR MILESTONE SUPPORTING COMMUNITY
A record 2,200+ participants biked, ran, walked and climbed stairs to support cancer research, patient care and survivors at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. The fundraiser is made possible by the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, and this year, 325+ people helped ensure the event’s success. Organizers expressed their gratitude for the contributions that made the 10th anniversary of the Lobo Cancer Challenge a memorable milestone.

"I've watched it grow over the years and have enjoyed every minute of it, riding with friends and colleagues," says Brett Cooper. Every participant is moving for someone. Because cancer patients need more than medicine—they need a community cheering them on with hope, strength, and the promise that they never have to fight alone.

CANCER SURVIVOR SHARES HOPE THROUGH MUSIC
"I think that's the important word. Hope. So I try to sing songs that are uplifting," says Bonifacio Gurule. After nearly a decade of fighting cancer, Gurule credits the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center with saving his life. He believes the Lobo Cancer Challenge will provide more New Mexicans with the opportunity to keep fighting and keep hoping.
