Everyday 1 in 6 seniors in Georgia are isolated, struggle with hunger and the ability to pay for basic living needs. Poor health can be both a cause and a consequence of food insecurity, and older adults face a number of unique medical and mobility challenges that can be a barrier to accessing enough nutritious food and other household essentials. After a lifetime of hard work, many seniors find themselves struggling to make ends meet and stay in good health on fixed incomes. At times, seniors must choose between paying for groceries and buying medicine—a difficult choice with potentially severe health implications.
Since 2011 Mending the Gap has been providing basic needs assistance to hundreds of low- income seniors, creating collaboration in all sectors of the community, facilitating awareness, and inspiring even the younger generation to giving back. As the proportion of people over the age of 60 continues to grow, Mending the Gap continues to develop innovative initiatives to extend our reach to provide healthy food and household essentials to more seniors in need.
Mending the Gap Inc. invites you to participate in our Annual Superhero 5K Walk/Run event. The event will be held on June 8, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. at Lilburn City Park, Lilburn GA.
You and your organization can be a part of this life changing event.
We depend entirely on corporate and private partnerships for financial support. We have been fortunate in past years to have the support of individuals like you and we are hopeful that this year will be no different. All Partnerships receive recognition at this event and on our media platforms, and an opportunity to engage in other areas with Mending the Gap!
Your support will not only allow us to expand our services, provide education and awareness but will show your community that you are committed to help improve the welfare of vulnerable seniors. Together we can ensure older adults have access to the basic daily needs to stay healthy and remain in their homes longer, and that matters to many seniors.
All funds raised directly support: Our Save Our Seniors program which provides weekly distribution of healthy food, toiletries, personal care items and other household essentials to hundreds of low- income seniors in need at no cost to them.
