The Sussex County Double-Header Race Weekend on May 6 & 7 is two completely different traffic-free races in the beautiful and rustic "Skylands" area of Sussex County New Jersey.  Make it a race weekend and a vacation while staying close to home.  The Skylands region of Sussex County is just 90 minutes from midtown Manhattan,  two hours from Philadelphia and only an hour from Bethlehem and Mt. Pocono - but it's another world for you to enjoy.

Saturday's race is the Race to the Top of NJ, the hardest and highest 5K in New Jersey.  You'll race on paved roads to the highest peak in New Jersey at 1803 feet above sea level.  As you make the turn-around at High Point Monument, you will see New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania sprawling below you in a panoramic view  that will take your breath away (yeah, it's the view, the shortness of breath will have nothing to do with the up hill running).

After a day of sightseeing, fishing, antiquing and getting away from it all after Saturday's race, Sunday's race offers a completely different kind of 5K on completely closed forest roads in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.  The Creative Rush 5K is hosted by the word-renowned Peters Valley School of Craft, a 300 acre campus of professional artists and art education of all types.  You will finish among massive wooden sculptures set up just for the race.  Following the race, you can finish your weekend away by spending the day at Peters Valley's annual Open House with studio tours, artist demonstrations, hands-on art activities for kids and adults, mini craft fair, live music and food.

You need a vacation.  Why not get away from it all with a weekend of running, walking, recreating and art?
