Since 1992, Sports Backers and the Richmond Times-Dispatch have partnered to recognize the accomplishments of the region’s best and brightest student-athletes. At the end of each academic year, twenty-two (22) high school seniors and one team are honored for their amazing achievements in both the classroom and on the field of play. More than $1,300,000 in scholarships has been awarded since the program’s inception.

The 32nd Annual Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner will be held at The Jefferson Hotel on June 5, 2023. Over $70,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the region’s finest student-athletes.

We hope that you will join us in celebrating the successes of the Richmond region’s finest student-athletes by supporting the 2023Awards Dinner. All proceeds from the event will be used to support the Sports Backers scholarship fund.
