Book Club Meet & Greet

Join us in the LHS Community Room as we welcome awesome local authors of pet-related books, enjoy a reading and Q&A, and take a signed copy of their book home! Each author is accompanied by their inspiration pet. Support local authors and kids' love of books while also supporting Longmont Humane Society! Kids under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sara Elizabeth Grossman, June 22: Sara lives in Denver with her dog Baxter, the star of June's Book Club choice "Schnauzer In A Sweater-Vest". It is a fun story full of colorful illustrations, with a lesson in how our differences make us each unique and important! 

Jessica A. Schneider, July 27: Jessica lives in Erie with her dog Pico, the lost dog who teaches us how of the struggles of being an unwanted pet who is then found by a family who loves him and must learn how to adjust to bringing in a new family member! "The Adventures Of Pico The Chug" is a heart warming series starting with July's Book Club choice, "Lost And Found".

Reading FUR Fun

Readers of all ages* are invited to come read to a shelter pet here at Longmont Humane Society. Each reader gets a 15-minute reservation with a pet thoughtfully chosen by our staff, and a 20% discount coupon for our pet retail shop, Boz's Place. The shop is located right inside LHS and the coupon is good until December 21, 2024. We have found that reading to animals in the shelter gives the pets a bit of calm companionship while promoting literacy and love for animals out in the community.    *Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
