The New Mexico Humane Conference (NMHC) is an annual multi-day educational event for animal welfare professionals, hosted by Animal Humane New Mexico. Running for 2 days every August in Albuquerque, New Mexico, NMHC includes sessions on topics relevant to animal control field officers, shelter caregivers, shelter and rescue leaders, veterinarians and behavior specialists who work with both sheltered and adopted pets. In 2023, we had 222 attendants from 54 different organizations, 9 states and 43 cities. Twenty twenty-four will mark the nineteenth year the conference has played a critical role in keeping attendees from around the Southwest and beyond abreast of current national standards of care and innovative practices in animal welfare.
