Event Description

The program, mostly geared towards adults, is about wolves in Wisconsin and addresses humans’ perceptions of wolves, puts into perspective impacts wolves have on the landscape (both positive and negative) and covers wolf ecology including a year in the life of a pack. Since wolves are present on the Wisconsin landscape, there are many misconceptions and myths about wolves that need to be dispelled. There will be pelts, tracks, and life-sized cut-outs of a wolf, coyote, and fox to help participants learn differing identifiers. Objectives of the program include understanding how perceptions affect our management of the species, how to identify wolves, and learn about their lifecycle and their impact on their surroundings.

Speaker Bio:
Dave Slezewski grew up hunting and enjoying the outdoors on his family’s 40-acre homestead in Waupaca County. He just completed his fourth season as a volunteer carnivore tracker for the Wisconsin DNR and has conducted howl surveys.  Whenever possible, Dave promotes wolf education outreach.
