Trivium Racing is hosting a trail maintenance day & course preview run on the High Country Pathway.

Join us as we do volunteer trail maintenance work with Friends of the High Country Pathway on sections of the course and in other areas that need attention.  Then get in some training miles on the course you'll be running in October.

Runners, crew, and volunteers are all welcome.

Option to camp at Tomawak Lake State Forest Campground.  Campfire, hangout, option for a short run.  Megan will grill hotdogs, burgers, or both for dinner around 6 pm.  This is lowkey and the timeline can shift depending on who shows up and what they want to do.  The menu is campground-limited; we won't have GF or vegetarian options.

This is where the 100K starts.  The amenities listed on the DNR's website are accurate but the location is not.  We are camping at the campground listed on Google Maps as Tomahawk Lake State Forest Campground, at Tomahawk Lake, at Tomahawk Lake Highway and Shoepac Road.

Campgrounds are first come, first served, which means they don't take reservations.  Check-in starts at 3 p.m. and checkout is by 1 p.m.  These are rustic campgrounds; you can learn more about rules and amenities at the link above.  If there isn't enough space at Tomahawk Lake Campground there are two additional campgrounds nearby (Shoepac Lake State Forest Campground (.7 miles) and Tomahawk Creek Flooding State Forest Camground, (1.7 miles)).

If you'd prefer not to camp, Lyons Motel and Lodge is about a 16 minute drive from Tomahawk Lake State Forest Campground.

Trail Maintenance Day on High Country Pathway

We'll work with Friends of High Country Pathway on whatever needs fixing!

We highly suggest you wear hunter's orange when on the trails today.  Bring work gloves and wear supportive shoes.  If you have a machete or hand saw, bring that!

Megan will make pancakes.  She will not appear happy because she is not, by definition, a morning person, but she's very happy to be outside with all of you.

Leave the campground at 8:30 am.

Meet at https://maps.app.goo.gl/uyondnWMz3YzDHJX6.  Google Maps does not recognize this as a road. For those coming from Tomahawk Campground, they will take 33 to Osmun Rd and stay on Osmun until they get to the pin. It is a well maintained dirt road.

9:00 am start trail maintenance.  Finish around 3:00 pm.

Trivium will bring buns, sandwich meat, and condiments for sandwiches, along with chips and soda.  Please bring any other food you want throughout the day.  We'll be able to stop back at our cars throughout the day.

Evening Trail Run on High Country Pathway

We'll be back to the campground around 3:30 pm.  We'll start our run at 4:30 pm.

Supported trail run on the course on High Country Pathway!  We'll provide a GPX file, a group leader or two, and car pick-ups.  Call this a two-a-day; time on feet doing trail maintenance + a run.

We highly suggest you wear hunter's orange when on the trails and bring bear bells and/or bear spray.

These are point to point routes.  We're running the 100 Mile course backwards from the campground.  We're scheduling pick-ups based on time, not distance, so please plan accordingly based on a very conservative estimate of your average pace.

Trivium staff isn't camping tonight, but you're welcome to if you want to get another run in on Sunday morning!  Dinner is on your own on Saturday night.  We recommend you bring food, as there aren't a lot of nearby options.
