I, Becca Urbanski, have decided to run in the Bfit Challenge this year because I am the wife of a first responder/military veteran, a daughter to a military veteran and a friend to many amazing men and women who are veterans. It means so much to me to support all first responders and military veterans and ensure they have constant support.
This event invites first responders/military and ALL community members to raise awareness around health and wellness of first responders and ultimately raise money for First Responder Charities. Please join me and the Boston Bruins Foundation to support this great cause! Last year, the BFit Challenge raised $892,000 for the families of fallen first responders.
Please help support me and the Somerville Fire Department in reaching our goal of raising funds to support the Boston Bruins Foundation’s 9th annual BFit Challenge. Even the smallest donation makes a BIG difference. Please note that 100% of the money raised goes directly to On-Site Academy (The Somerville Fire Departments charity of choice this year - On-Site Academy – Serving Those Who Serve)
Since 2019, SFD has raised over $70k for our selected charities. This year we have selected to raise funds for On-Site Academy which is a mental health facility that supports first responders and their families. Being a first responder, you never know what kind of calls a shift will bring. Some of those calls stick with you and replay over and over in your mind. The union president has worked directly with On-Site Academy and has seen the amazing work they do to help first responders deal with the mental load that comes with the job.
Thank you for your consideration of supporting me with the Boston Bruins Foundation’s BFit Challenge. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email to discuss the event and how much it means.
