On September 14th, 2025, I will swim across one of the widest points of the Hudson River, the three miles from Nyack to the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. WHY? In part because I love to swim, but also to challenge food insecurity in Westchester. Our county, one of the wealthiest places in the world, is home to thousands of people who face economic hardship and hunger daily, especially children. Consider the high cost of living, or even the cost of housing and childcare alone. Even when parents are working full time, some families may still find it hard to afford groceries and so many other basic needs. Families need to eat today as we work toward solutions to economic inequities over a longer term. That’s why I’m taking part in The Lighthouse Swim, which will be donating to Feeding Westchester, a member of Feeding America, the nationwide nonprofit network of more than 200 food banks. Feeding Westchester serves nearly 220,000 people each month in our county. Please consider joining me and donating any amount using the link above. Thank you for your support and generosity!
