As many of you know, I sustained a C6 Spinal Cord Injury over 24 years ago at the age of 17. Since then, I have gone on to graduate high school and college, drive, have my daughter, build a home with the love of my life, work in a field I am passionate about, travel, and live a very full life. None of this felt possible in the early days after my car accident, especially since I was told to expect to live my life in and out of a hospital with secondary medical complications.
Fortunately, I found CORE (Center Of Recovery & Exercise) and discovered how Activity Based Training can promote health and recovery following a devastating injury. The impact of the program on my life is extensive and I credit this form of therapy with not only preserving my physical health, but my mental health as I have lived with paralysis. Unfortunately, this is beyond the scope of what insurance companies deem "medically necessary," and families are faced with the financial burden of giving their loved ones the same therapy I receive. So, this is where the CORE Foundation comes in.
The mission of the CORE Foundation is to provide needed financial support and education for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions to participate in an activity-based recovery program via the Recovery Scholarship Program. 100% of all donations go directly to Recovery Scholarships for the paralysis community in Florida. Please consider donating to my fundraiser and/or sharing to support the cause nearest and dearest to my heart. Thank you.
