Why A Walk In The Park?

Since moving to Charleston and joining the staff of Charleston Parks Conservancy, I have learned so much about the importance of public spaces to the welfare of a community. This has been particularly true during the pandemic, when parks provided one of the very few places where individuals could be outside, safely socially distanced, and see friends, exercise, enjoy fresh air and - in the case of Charleston's parks - stunning gardens. But creating and maintaining these spaces isn't cheap, and the Conservancy must raise almost $2,000,000 this year to meet our programming goals. The City of Charleston provides less than 5% of our operating budget, so we need your help. Please make a gift today as I walk my way across Charleston and in doing so, complete my first ever marathon.
