My wife Dawn first noticed a lump in her right breast in February of 2023, and from then on we have been swept up in the whirlwind of cancer treatment. From the those first several dark months as the diagnosis was figured out following biopsies, MRIs, PET scans and scares; to the first chemo treatment on June 16; through the dark days of A/C chemo with the "red devil"; to a double mastectomy in December, followed by six weeks of radiation treatments... and now with clinical trial immunotherapy treatments down in Boston that will continue through October.
In honor of Dawn, I run for the good days and the bad days, the strength, the despair, the sorrow and the hope, the pain and the joy. It has been a terrible road to walk, but we have walked it and continue to walk it: one foot in front of the other, one day at a time.
