This year, I turn 45 — and I’ve never run a marathon. But I chose this marathon, the 50th Annual Marine Corps Marathon, for a reason that runs far deeper than personal achievement.
I’m running to honor the legacy of the Marines in my family — my grandfather, my father, and my cousin, who is also my best friend. They served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East. Each of them live(d) lives of courage, loyalty, and service — not just to their country, but to the people who depended on them. This race is my tribute to them and to all who have served with honor.
I’m also running for two smaller, but equally important reasons — my children. As a father, I want to show my son and daughter what it means to do hard things on purpose. To face discomfort, dig deep, and keep moving forward — especially when it’s hard. I want them to see that mental toughness isn't something you're born with — it's something you build.
As part of the Semper Fi & America’s Fund Community Athlete Team, I’m proud to run on behalf of those who continue to fight battles long after they’ve left the front lines. Semper Fi & America’s Fund provides lifelong, one-on-one support to our Nation’s critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families — offering healing, connection, and hope.
With over $500 million in support given to more than 34,000 heroes, the Fund makes sure that no warrior walks alone — physically, emotionally, or financially. Their work is compassionate, comprehensive, and life-changing.
So I’m running my first marathon not just to test my own limits — but to honor the limits others have pushed past for the sake of freedom. Every mile is a lesson. Every step is a symbol. Every donation is a way forward.
Semper Fi. Always Faithful...Always Grateful.
