Bloomington's Emergency Winter Shelter for the homeless was operated at various downtown churches for many years. Different churches graciously hosted one night a week of sheltering. Last year Wheeler Mission agreed to take over the responsibility of hosting the Emergency Winter Shelter for men and women. It does that at its two facilities off of West 3rd St. In 2021, Wheeler served 989 individuals, providing 30,808 nights of lodging and 69,094 meals!
