IDA-FL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, scientific, and educational organization dedicated to increasing public awareness of dyslexia, the most common cause of reading, writing, and spelling difficulties, impacting 15-20% of the population. We are proud to be part of the International Dyslexia Association, the oldest organization of its kind in the United States, serving individuals with dyslexia, their families, educators, and professionals. Founded in 1982, IDA-FL serves Florida, Puerto Rico, US-Virgin Islands, and other communities around the world. We are constantly striving to serve our dynamic constituents.
Our vision is that ALL students will receive Structured Literacy instruction, provided by effective teachers, who understand the Science of Reading.
Our mission is to be the state leader in the awareness and dissemination of current knowledge, research, and resources regarding dyslexia and related language-based learning disabilities. We will provide guidance, based on the Science of Reading, that informs appropriate assessment, Structured Literacy instruction, and intervention. This information will be available to all stakeholders, including children and adults with dyslexia, their families, teachers, and related professionals.
We provide state-wide professional education to our constituents, especially including educators through our conferences, webinars, book studies, local and regional events, and other resources. If this Fundraiser raises $100 or more by October 1, 2025, the Fundraiser name will appear on the Dyslexia Dash t-shirt. In addition, the names of all individual donors who donate $100 or more will have the option for their name or someone they honor to be listed on the t-shirt.
