My Story
Cancer changes everything—but what often gets overlooked is what happens after treatment ends.
In 2019, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. While I was grateful to complete treatment, recovery was far more challenging than I ever anticipated. I experienced firsthand the physical, emotional, and mental toll that cancer leaves behind—long after appointments slow down and the world expects you to “get back to normal.”
As a physical therapist specializing in oncology rehabilitation, I knew the importance of support, movement, and community in healing. But even with my background, I found myself navigating recovery while searching for resources that addressed the whole person—not just the diagnosis.
That experience stayed with me.
Today, as the founder of Ilaaj Physical Therapy & Oncology Rehab, I work every day with individuals recovering from cancer—helping them manage side effects, rebuild strength, and reconnect with their bodies. Over and over, I see how vital organizations like WeSpark are in filling the gaps that medicine alone cannot. The emotional support, education, connection, and sense of belonging WeSpark provides are truly life-changing for survivors and their families.
This year, I’m proud to participate in the WeSpark Run/Walk as both a vendor and a peer-to-peer fundraiser, and to bring together Team Ilaaj in support of this incredible organization. We’re raising funds to ensure that no one has to navigate life after cancer feeling lost, isolated, or unsupported.
Whether you’re walking, running, donating, or cheering from afar—thank you for being part of this mission. Every contribution helps create space for healing, connection, and hope.
Together, we can support life after cancer.
