In memory of Jim Joyner

A tribute to my Stepdad:
My stepdad Jim Joyner passed away March 5th 2023 after a long battle with cancer.  His kindness was like no other, he’d be the first to lend a helping hand. Help us keep his memory alive by supporting us in our 5k!

Dad,

I’m not sure I’ll ever have enough words to go on about what a wonderful person you were. Stepdad will never define the role you took on, you were my Dad since I was four. I have always been lucky enough to have two Dad’s. You brought God into our home and into our hearts.

I could never thank you enough for the sacrifices and hard work you have done for our family throughout the years. You role modeled to me hard work, dedication, and that you had the patience of a saint all those years you taught me math at the kitchen table.

You were good friends with my own dad, a true act of coparenting I’ll forever be grateful for. You inspired and supported all of my dreams, even on the days they didn’t seem possible. You were a good father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, and coworker to SO many- everyone always had the best things to say about you. I’ll miss your wonderful sense of humor, your Texas accent (yes you totally had one) and your southern fried dishes.

You were truly selfless and never failed to show an act of kindness whether it was at home or anywhere else. I never knew how unimaginable this pain would be, not being able to call you to talk about my day. I know your fight with cancer was a long, hard road that you fought, and won more than once. I am so glad you are not in pain anymore. You taught me unconditional love, family, and to how important a relationship with God is in this world. I guess he needed his best angel home a bit sooner than I wanted. I’ll always thank God for letting me have you for as long as he did. Until we meet again, Dad. Thank you for choosing me as your daughter all those years ago. I love you always.

Join us for the Seacoast Cancer 5K as the Seacoast community comes together for a celebration of life in support of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Seacoast Cancer Center. You choose how to participate – fundraise, volunteer, walk/run virtually or in person! No matter how your participate, this event will be a positive experience from beginning to end as the Seacoast Cancer 5K brings together thousands of neighbors, friends, and family in the fight against cancer. The best part of all, every dollar raised supports cancer care right here in our community, allowing patients to live their lives to the fullest during cancer treatment and through survivorship.
