Dear Runners, Walkers, and Dashers,
We have postponed the JJTrail Races for 2020 and hope to have the race in 2021.
The Katonah-Lewisboro School District did not grant the required permission to hold the event on school property. We understand and respect that decision and continue to work closely with the KLSD Athletic Department, Administration, and Operations & Maintenance to put on a first class and safe event.
We are holding everything off until 2021 when hopefully the pandemic situation is improved to the point where we are able to hold an event. Whether it is a traditional trail race or a hybrid/in-person model remains to be seen.
If we get approval to hold the race in 2021, it may be a virtual race, an in-person race, or a hybrid of those.
We still plan to print race shirts for the event regardless of whether it is virtual or in-person. We will get those shirts to participants either via pick-up (time and location TBD) or via mail.
We have sent out an email to all registered runners, walkers, and dashers with links to the following alternatives:
1.) Stay in race and await new date.
2.) Defer entry to 2021 race date (TBD).
3.) Convert your race entry to a donation to the trail building effort.
4.) Get a refund.
The organization putting on this event, the John Jay Boosters Club, is a 501(c)3 charity. Together with the John Jay Cross Country and John Jay Track & Field teams, we have been raising money for the completion of the John Jay Community Trail through race proceeds, sponsorships, and donations.
We hope you will continue your phenomenal support of our community race and the ongoing trail building effort. The trail is 95% complete with one more effort underway to get the "final link" in place.
We appreciate your trust in us to put on a safe and fun race -- and to do long-term good for the community in the process.

The John Jay Community 5k Trail Race (http://jjtrail.org) is a competitive community race on the new John Jay Community Cross Country Trail. The course starts on the lower fields of the John Jay Campus and quickly goes into the wooded trails adjacent to the middle school and high school. The trails are challenging and hilly in the woods.
The John Jay 4k Trail Walk is a non-competitive walk through the main parts of the John Jay Community Trail. The walkers will start after the 5k runners are in the woods. Most of the trail is the same except for approximately 1k of the southern hill loop that is skipped by the walkers.
Both courses end at the John Jay Contest Field.
Sign up ASAP - first 150 pre-registered runners/walkers to sign up receive a race t-shirt!
The Kids Jay Dash race will take place after the 5k run / 4k walk finish and the race itself will be on the John Jay Contest Field. Start time shown is approximate but we will try to be as close as possible to that time. The first 50 runners to sign up for the kids race get a t-shirt.
(*Note: In order to accommodate 5th graders who turn 11 before the Kids Jay Dash race date, we have set the age calculation to be based on kids age as of 12/31/2020. This means your child's age will appear younger in the registration email if their birthday is in Jan, Feb, Mar, or early Apr. but it will be correct on their race results.)
Runners can create or join teams. There are six classes of teams: F18U, M18U, F19+, M19+, Co-ed 18U, Co-ed 19+.
The single-gender teams consist of THREE runners. The co-ed teams are made up of FOUR runners - two female and two male. Times will be combined to find the best overall teams. Top overall teams in the categories will be recognized at the awards ceremony.
The John Jay Community Cross Country Trail has been developed and built by student and community volunteers to provide a home course for the Westchester County and New York State Championship John Jay Cross Country teams as well as for the community. If you are interested in helping out, either via donation or volunteering your time, please reach out to us at jjtrailrace@gmail.com for more information. Thank you!
