My Story

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I started running around 2014, with my first marathon being NYC. When I tell people I have run now 5 marathons, a lot of them look at me in awe. The truth is, I really like running, but I have always found it difficult to stay focused and consistent with my training. I have run with friends early in the morning, and certainly enjoy running, in silence, looking at the sunrise in beautiful Colorado. I have tried to stick to training plans as closely as possible, I have cross-trained. I go out on long runs, solo. Training for a marathon is long, daunting, hard. I always ask myself, "Why? Why do I want to run a marathon?". I do not know the answer to that question, other than completing something hard.

I would say that any marathon's dream, or goal, is to run Boston one day. In my case, it was more a dream than a goal, until a very good friend of ours told me about Semper Fi & America's Fund, and all the great things that they did for her, after she was gravely wounded in combat. She ended up convincing me that raising money for a non-profit, THIS non-profit, was a great thing to do and it would be money well used.

Raising money is never an easy thing, no matter the reason or the cause. I know that this will be hard work and it will take dedication and grit on my part. It will complement my training, it will raise the stakes, it will motivate me!

However, there is nothing that I do, that will ever compare with the sacrifices that the veterans that Semper Fi & America's Fund has set out to help, had to make. I truly believe that we can help them, achieve their maximum potential, help them, with their new chapters, their new lives, their new challenges!

I urge you to donate as much as you can, to help our Veterans and to help SF&AF continue their noble mission!

Thank you, very much.

Jose
