I received my first clot diagnosis in a broom closet at Iowa Methodist in 2013. I'm not exaggerating when my doctor pulled me into a broom closet to explain I had multiple pulmonary emboli and needed to go to the hospital, now! 4 months later, I drove myself to the ER and begged the ER docs to do a work up for another PE. They tried convincing me I was just anxious and it was probably nothing, but if I'd like they'd run a D-Dimer. The ER doc came back and said he'd "be eating the egg off his face if he didn't believe he patients" because my clotting times were elevated. I was then diagnosed with 3 more pulmonary emboli. I was only just recently diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome.
There's only a handful of known clotting disorders and therapeutics are still limited in their availability. Consider donating to help further research and to spread awareness on how to Stop The Clot.
