It has been a challenging year for all of us, but for people who are blind or visually impaired the challenges of the pandemic have been multiplied. As the world moved to Zoom, online groceries, telemedicine and social distancing, the Mass Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired redoubled its efforts to make sure that the people we serve had access to technology training so they would not be shut out.
Requests for mental health services have jumped and our OTs have been providing in-home services in full PPE since July. Our support groups are meeting remotely and we've trained more volunteers in the last 6 months than we did last year.
In February we launched a vaccine access campaign and have been working with the state and local communities to ensure vaccine access for people with disabilities.
Everyone on our team has come together to face this challenge and make sure that basic needs and essential access to services are still available to those who need them. Your support makes all the difference to this work. Thank you.
