Mateo changed our lives the moment he was born.
When Mateo arrived, he faced a challenging start with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a brain injury that happens when children don't get enough oxygen to the brain. Suddenly, our world transformed into a whirlwind of hospital visits, medical conversations, and emotions we never expected to experience.
Today, Mateo lives with cerebral palsy, but here's the thing: his diagnosis is just a tiny piece of his incredible story.
Mateo is pure joy. Seriously, this kid lights up every room!
He's a total music fanatic who bops and grooves to every beat.
And talk about FOMO (fear of missing out), Mateo has it in spades. If something's happening, he wants to be right in the middle of the action.
Every milestone Mateo reaches is a testament to his superhero-level determination. From gaining head control to taking supported steps, he works harder than most adults I know. His journey isn't about limitations; it's about endless possibilities.
Mateo teaches us daily what real strength looks like, and trust me, it's pretty amazing.
That's why we created the Hustle for Hope 5K at Waterfront Park in Clermont, FL to support Hope for HIE.
Hope for HIE is like a lifeline for families navigating this unexpected journey. When parents first hear an HIE diagnosis, it can feel scary and lonely. But this organization ensures no family feels isolated. They provide support, resources, and a community that says, "You've got this."
This event is about transforming Mateo's personal story into something bigger and more powerful.
We're here to:
- Raise awareness
- Support incredible families
- Create hope where uncertainty once lived
When you donate, you're doing so much more than supporting a fundraiser. You're:
- Helping families find critical resources
- Supporting children like Mateo in their unique journeys
- Turning one child's story into hope for many
Thanks for being part of our adventure. Together, we're making a real difference! 💙
