- The Great Lakes contain about 20% of the world's surface fresh water.
- The Great Lakes provide fresh water to more than 80% of North America.
We are lucky enough to have access to clean water:
- More than 2.2 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean water.
- More than 4 million people worldwide do not have access to WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene)
Let's help to change the last two facts by:
- Participating in this race
- Participating in beach clean-ups
- Decreasing the use of single-use plastics
- Drinking tap water instead of bottled water
- Using reusable dishware and silverware
- Cleaning up litter
