Through the support of the African penguin SSP (Species Survival Plan), AZA’s SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) and conservation efforts at SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds), Mystic Aquarium and its penguin care team work tirelessly to help save this endangered species.
Mystic Aquarium, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, is counted among the nation’s leading aquariums with more than 300 species and an extensive collection of marine mammals including New England’s only beluga whales. The Aquarium has been a pioneer in offering guests a variety of up close encounters with a wide range of marine animals including the endangered African penguin.
