New Date: TBD
Dear 2020 Event Entrant and Sponsor,
Over the past several weeks, we have been monitoring updates from county, state, federal, and international public safety and health agencies regarding the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With state and local efforts to control the virus expanding quickly, the Porterville Breakfast Rotary have decided to postpone the race until later this year in order to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, spectators, and residents.
We are currently coordinating with local agencies, partners, and other impacted entities to secure a reschedule date for the 2020 Run for Life 5K walk and run. We are hoping to reschedule for late summer or early fall and will update you as soon as a date is secured.
Like you, we are very disappointed to have to move the race to a later date, but we strongly feel it is the responsible thing to do. Details are still being finalized and will be communicated soon.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and concern as we develop a path forward for a rescheduled race weekend. We will provide more details on our website portervillerunforlife.com as they become available.
Thank you for your support during this trying time. We look forward to hosting you for a safe and fun race this year.
The Run for Life Team
Please join the Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club at the Annual Run for Life at Granite Hills High School. Proceeds from this event will be used to support the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center at Sierra View Medical Center. With these funds, the Cancer Treatment Center is able to attend or host cancer support groups, yearly prostate screenings, a survivor's dinner, health fairs and several other community outreach projects along with the purchase of educational materials. The event recognizes and honors the lives of those who are bravely battling or have lost their fight with cancer.
This year’s event will be honoring Missy Wise, Rick Cooksey.
As the runners and walkers come in, the fun continues. Flow into an unbeatable cooldown, led by our incredible local yoga instructor Elizabeth Dieterle RYT. Then fuel up with some tasty pancakes and an array of delicious beverages provided by The Porterville Runners Club and Stafford's Chocolates.
Each registrant will receive a short sleeve t-shirt.* Awards will be given to Male and Female for both the run and the walk 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the following age groups: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Prize for 1st Male finisher and 1st Female finisher.
Whether you’re taking in the tunes, chilling on the grass, running or walking , Porterville Run for Life is one event you don’t want to miss.
