Hello friends! Some of you may know that I love to run, and this year I’m running Broad Street as part of the Fairmount Park Conservancy's (FPC) Philly Parks team to help make l sure that our parks stay beautiful and green. While the FPC may fly under the radar, their work is well known. Their mission is to bring our beloved parks to life and work with the City of Philadelphia and its communities to steward our parks and nurture our shared environment, cultural resources and public health. They envision a vibrant, high-quality, and equitable Philadelphia park system for everyone. But their work is really what stands out. FPC is responsible for ALL of our parks, not just Fairmount Park. They are responsible for the massive redevelopment of FDR park and for the incredible Anna C. Verna playground that many of us frequent. They maintain and preserve the beautiful historic mansions sprinkled throughout Fairmount Park, ensuring they are cared for and kept safe. They work on trails throughout the City, such as Boxers Trail, the Trolley Trail, and the trail system at the Water Works. They are a hard-working group of committed individuals working together to keep improving Philadelphia. What better cause could there be?
Every little bit counts, and who knows, your donation could pay for that little tree in the corner of creating shade, or that piece of playground equipment that your kid’s climbing on. Help me make a small difference in our fair city!
