Explanation to follow.
In 2018, I lost my dad to cancer. It sucked. It still does. But instead of just sitting with that grief, I decided to run with it — literally. On May 17th, I’ll be tackling 50 hot, humid, and slightly ridiculous miles through the Florida Keys as part of the Keys 100 ultramarathon.
Why the Keys? Because my dad loved them — the water, the sunshine, the slow pace. It feels like the perfect place to honor his memory and keep his spirit close as I push through every step.
I’m running in his name, and for every family still in the fight. I’ll be sweating buckets, dodging key deer, and probably questioning my life choices around mile 38 — but every step will be worth it if it helps fund cancer research and bring us closer to better treatments and brighter futures.
I’m raising $1,300 for cancer research. If you can spare a few bucks, a share, or just some moral support (and maybe a donut at the finish line), I’d be incredibly grateful.
Let’s turn miles into meaning. Let’s run cancer out of the Keys.
