I recognize every day how lucky I am to be able to read, write and speak in 2 languages. Even with technology all people need to be able to read. I love using my passion in cycling to help others
Support me by donating on my behalf as I participate in the LOOP for Literacy on February 8, 2025. It will be a fun day of activities that will help support the Literacy Coalition in their mission to to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy so that every child and adult in Palm Beach County becomes a reader!
WHO WE SERVE
* The preschool child who lives in a home that doesn't contain a single book.
* The child who feels alienated and angry because they struggle to read as well as their friends.
* The family who lives in poverty because their parents don't have the literacy skills to qualify for a job with a sustaining wage.
THE NEED IN PALM BEACH COUNTY
* 22.2% of adults age 16 and older lack basic literacy skills and can't fill out a job application or read a bus schedule.
* 46% of third-grade students read below grade level, begin to fall behind in every subject, not just language arts, and are at greater risk of dropping out of school.
